Dewatering Filter Bags

Hanes Geo Components dewatering filter bags are effective in collecting sediment during dewatering operations. Sediment-laden water is pumped into the bag.

Filter bags should be placed on a level area. (Bags can roll down slopes.) Insert pump’s discharge hose through spout into bag and secure the connection with clamp or tie wire. Filter bags can handle most applications utilizing a 2”-4” discharge hose.

Standard bags are made from 8 oz/sy or 10 oz/sy nonwoven needle-punched geotextile with double-stitched seams. NOTE: High pumping rates and high sediment loads can cause the bag to burst.

Many different sizes are available. Check with your local Hanes Geo Components branch for the sizes which are commonly used.

Popular sizes include:

  • 8 oz/sy: 15’ X 15’, 15’ X 10’, 6’ X 6’, 6’ X 4’
  • 10 oz/sy: 15’ X 15’, 15’ X 10’, 10’ X 10’, 6’ X 4’
